Environment and culture: Native from Europe and Asia, it is cultivated
in central and oriental Europe.
Used parts: Root
Constituents: essential Oil, valepotriates, alcaloïdes
Manners: Valerian is effective against epilepsy, stress' confusions(nervousness, intellectual hyperactivity) thanks to its soothing properties. Furthermore it relieves the concern (shivers, panic, palpitation, perspiration) and sleeplessness. Because of certain properties persons use it in relaxation or still to do" astral journeys".
Effects: Painkiller, relaxing, relieves the cramps, anti-stress, lowers the blood, antispasmodic pressure, anticonvulsivant.
Warnings: Can provoke slumbers, not set it if one already takes sleeping drugs.
Preparation: Maceration: 100g of root for 1 liter of tepid water during 12 hours.
Directions for use: 2 in 3 cups a day between meals, bedtime. Set 8-10 days and stop during 2-3 weeks before resuming the treatment.
