Name: Sage
Scientific name: Salvia officinalis
Summary: Salvia comes from the Latin, salvare which means being cured. One understands better so the interest of its numerous virtues.
Description: Shrub with quadrangular leaves and with woolly
leaves going from the grey - green in made purple.
Environment and culture: The sage is native of Mediterranean
circles and grows in the sunny places.
Used parts: leaves.
Constituents: essential Oil, diterpènes bitter, flavonoïdes, acids phenolic, tanins.
Manners: One uses it against the troubles of throat(breast), to look after ulcers because of the properties antiseptics and astringent. It is as well a tonic and a stimulant notably for the digestion as the nervous or still hormonal system (settles the menstrual cycle). It is also effective against the asthma in the form of preparation of dried leaves to smoke.
Effects: astringent, antiseptic, anti-asthmatic, aromatic, favor the eviction of gases, regulate the perspiration and the menstrual, tonic cycle.
Warnings: do not use during the pregnancy, nor in case of epilepsy.
Preparation: Infusion, alcoholic tincture, to smoke as cigarettes.
