Name: Eucalyptus
Scientific name: Eucalyptus globulus
Other names: Blue Gum
Summary: Remedy all over the world
because of its virtues antiseptic.
Description: Tree with evergreen
leafs in the green leaves and in the grey - blue trunk.
Environment and culture: Australia's native , it is cultivated in the tropical regions, to see moderate zones. However, it is very requiring in water.
Used parts: leaves
Constituents: essential oil, flavonoïdes,
tanins, resin
History: Used by aborigines, it spread
in west in the XIX-th century.
Manners: The eucalyptus treats the
infections (lungworts, bronchitis, pneumonia) and fevers. It looks also after
colds, after flu and after breast's troubles. Used external it relieves rheumatisms.
Effects: Antiseptic, expectorant,
rubefiant.
Preparation: Infusion (2 in 4 cups
a day - 1 tea spoonfulby cup). Can be also smoked as cigarette.
